I was recommended by a friend to check out sakanaya upon my visit to UIUC. We ordered Sakanaya Supreme, which was honestly a huge bargain, and some appetizers. Their sashimi and nigiri were top notch, fresh and delicate. I savored every bite I took. Although I am usually not a huge fan of sushi rolls, Sakanaya’s roll was on a different level from the ones I had so far. If you are visiting UIUC, Sakanaya is definitely worth the try.
I was amazed to try this vegan Willis tower. As someone who has been on a vegan diet for my whole entire life, this menu was the best vegan menu I’ve ever tried. Definitely recommend and will be back every week!! Highly recommend!! Chefs at the sushi bar were so nice and the service was great! Top tier servers and hosts❤️
First time going here and the food and environment is very aesthetically pleasing. The server was patient, very nice, and accommodating :) Sashimi was fresh and very delicious🫶🫶 Thank you for the wonderful experience!
OH I LOVED IT. My boyfriend and I got the “i love salmon” and the volcano roll. The portions were huge and beautifully presented. Lots of big fish pieces!
The staff were very friendly, and the restaurant was crowded. As for the food, the miso soup had a rich flavor, but the pork cutlet was slightly overcooked and the meat was a bit tough. The rice was somewhat soft and tender.
Had a great time at Sakanaya! I got the Kamikaze Roll and it was super tasty—really fresh and full of flavor. You can tell they use quality ingredients. The vibe in the restaurant was really chill and inviting too, which made the whole experience even better. Definitely recommend if you're in the mood for good sushi and a nice spot to hang out.
Great experience! The rolls were huge and tasty. The server was also very quick and always ready to help us out if we needed anything. We had a group of 6 and they were very accommodating for us and split the bill perfectly.
Wonderful restaurant! I hosted my birthday dinner here and it was absolutely amazing with delicious sushi, flavorful curry, and awesome noodles!
My favorite spot on campus! The vibe is relaxed and welcoming, and the staff are super friendly. The Dynamite Roll is my personal favorite. The crunch gives the best texture. If you’re craving sushi, Sakanaya definitely the spot.
Amazing Experience Everytime. The service is top notch Everytime alongside with the elevated dining experience. The food is the best in the Champaign Urbana Area. If you are a student and want to try the best sushi you will have come to sakanaya. Had the dynamite roll and the spicy tuna roll and they taste so fresh and are perfect. Pairing it with the spicy tuna crispy rice is a great duo. Recommend this place highly
